The French manufacturer \u2013 which currently holds overall titles from Le Mans and Petit Le Mans last year and this year\u2019s running of the Sebring 12 Hours with its 908 HDi FAP prototype \u2013 joins diesel rival Audi Sport and Drayson Racing as the first confirmed LMP1 entrants for the global championship.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-left alignleft\" style=\"border: black 1px solid;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/gallery\/posts-alms\/Peugeot-2.jpg\" alt=\"Peugeot-2\" width=\"384\" height=\"336\" \/>In addition to serving as the second of three rounds in the International Le Mans Cup, the 13th annual Petit Le Mans is the season-finale for the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patr\u00f3n. The 1,000-mile\/10-hour classic &#8211; the Series\u2019 cornerstone event &#8211; is scheduled this year for September 29-October 2 from the 2.54-mile, 12-turn road course roughly one hour northeast of Atlanta.<\/p>\n<p>Friday\u2019s announcement gave no clues as to the number of entries or which drivers will participate from the Peugeot camp. Anthony Davidson, Marc Gene and Alexander Wurz won the season-opening 58th Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring presented by Fresh from Florida. The sister Peugeot 908 of Sebastien Bourdais, Pedro Lamy and Nic Minassian finished 13.817 seconds adrift.<\/p>\n<p>Stephane Sarrazin and Franck Montagny led a Peugeot 1-2 finish last year at Petit Le Mans in a rain-soaked event.<\/p>\n<p>The Automobile Club de l\u2019Ouest \u2013 the governing body of the 24 Hours of Le Mans \u2013 confirmed in March the launch of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ne16.com\/t\/12233061\/589624184\/54050516\/0\/?c4e129f6=YW1lcmljYW4tbGUtbWFucy1wYW5veiA0LzIzLzIwMTAgMToyNjozOSBQTQ%3d%3d&amp;x=52f93bd1\" target=\"_blank\"><em>the 2010 International Le Mans Cup<\/em><\/a>. It features three races on three continents: Silverstone (Great Britain) on September 12, Petit Le Mans on October 2 and a yet-to-be determined event in China in early November.<\/p>\n<p>New for the international competition is the inclusion of a championship for GT2 manufacturers to go alongside a similar title for LMP1 manufacturers. Also announced were the additions of team championships for all four ACO-sanctioned classes \u2013 LMP1, LMP2, GT1 and GT2.<\/p>\n<p>To be eligible for each of these three titles, entrants must take part:<br \/>\n\u2022 In all three events counting for the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup<br \/>\n\u2022 In five races run under the Le Mans label (except the Le Mans 24 Hours).<\/p>\n<p>For 2011, the ACO\u2019s wish is to expand to six events. Entries for this year\u2019s championship close May 31.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-center aligncenter\" style=\"border: black 1px solid;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/gallery\/posts-alms\/Peugeot-Podium-3.jpg\" alt=\"Peugeot-Podium-3\" width=\"448\" height=\"298\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The next round of the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patr\u00f3n is the American Le Mans Series Monterey presented by Patr\u00f3n. The six-hour race is set for 2:30 p.m. PT on Saturday, May 22 from Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. CBS Sports will broadcast the race from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, May 29.
