{"id":4848,"date":"2010-04-29T19:16:20","date_gmt":"2010-04-29T23:16:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=4848"},"modified":"2010-04-29T19:08:18","modified_gmt":"2010-04-29T23:08:18","slug":"new-silverstone-corners-named","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/new-silverstone-corners-named\/","title":{"rendered":"New Silverstone corners named"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The corners making up Silverstone&#8217;s new formula one layout have been named.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>On Thursday at the Northamptonshire venue, the 700 metre &#8216;Arena&#8217; loop &#8211; to be used not only for MotoGP but also for the British grand prix on July 11 &#8211; was officially opened.<\/p>\n<p>The new section &#8211; essentially two new straights linked by corners that bypass the old Bridge corner section &#8211; now boasts stretches dubbed Village, The Loop, Wellington Straight and Aintree.<\/p>\n<p>The launch of the Arena section, which cost 5 million pounds, was attended by the likes of Red Bull&#8217;s Christian Horner and Mark Webber, David Coulthard and Mercedes&#8217; Nick Fry.<\/p>\n<p>British Racing Drivers&#8217; Club president Damon Hill said the new section provides &#8220;better viewing, greater capacity and more of a challenge&#8221;, whilst retaining the high-speed nature of the famous circuit.<\/p>\n<p>A new pit and paddock complex is planned for 2011, with the start-finish straight moved to the other side of the layout.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ve reconfigured the shape of the circuit &#8212; this is the first year of a two-year development,&#8221; added 1996 world champion Hill, who on Thursday ferried Prince Andrew around the circuit in a two-seater F1 car.<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">\u00a9 RIF|GMM<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The corners making up Silverstone&#8217;s new formula one layout have been named.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"ngg_post_thumbnail":0},"categories":[3],"tags":[1456,1055,5262,5261,5340,5327],"aioseo_notices":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/4848"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=4848"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/4848\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":4849,"href":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/4848\/revisions\/4849"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=4848"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=4848"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=4848"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
