{"id":6450,"date":"2010-06-20T17:08:21","date_gmt":"2010-06-20T21:08:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=6450"},"modified":"2010-06-20T17:08:21","modified_gmt":"2010-06-20T21:08:21","slug":"prodrive-toyota-to-find-f1-refuge-in-rallying","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/prodrive-toyota-to-find-f1-refuge-in-rallying\/","title":{"rendered":"Prodrive, Toyota, to find F1 refuge in rallying"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bidding to form a team in 2011 was too great a risk for\u00a0 Prodrive, the famous motor racing brand&#8217;s boss David Richards has admitted.<\/p>\n<p>The Briton and Aston Martin chief had attempted to form a team in previous years, but said in April that Prodrive will instead concentrate on world rallying and sports car racing.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday, he is quoted as saying the decision was driven by his concern for his 579 staff.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I wasn&#8217;t prepared to risk everyone&#8217;s livelihoods,&#8221; he told the Independent, adding: &#8220;It was quite interesting to watch the reaction of everybody when I told them.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The biggest fear people at Prodrive had is that we were going to risk everything on one throw of the dice by entering F1.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Now, Prodrive is expected to team up for a world rallying bid in 2011 with formula one refugee Toyota.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We want to be prepared if and when we get a call from Japan to go and compete,&#8221; a spokesman for Cologne based Toyota Motorsport confirmed.<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">\u00a9 RIF|GMM<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bidding to form a team in 2011 was too great a risk for\u00a0 Prodrive, the famous motor racing brand&#8217;s boss David Richards has admitted.
