{"id":6476,"date":"2010-06-22T07:05:47","date_gmt":"2010-06-22T11:05:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=6476"},"modified":"2010-06-22T07:05:47","modified_gmt":"2010-06-22T11:05:47","slug":"ferrari-confirms-mclarens-pat-fry-joining-team","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/ferrari-confirms-mclarens-pat-fry-joining-team\/","title":{"rendered":"Ferrari confirms McLaren&#8217;s Pat Fry joining team"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ferrari on Tuesday confirmed reports that Pat Fry is joining the famous Italian team.<\/p>\n<p>It emerged at the weekend that the 46-year-old Briton, who until recently was heading McLaren&#8217;s 2011 car project as long-time joint chief engineer, was linked with a move to the Maranello based squad.<\/p>\n<p>Italian reports had said Fry, although currently on compulsory &#8216;gardening leave&#8217;, will be able to have an impact on Ferrari&#8217;s next car.<\/p>\n<p>A team statement on Tuesday confirmed that Fry will begin his new role as assistant technical director, reporting to Aldo Costa, on 1 July.<\/p>\n<p>Ferrari said the &#8220;structure of the technical department remains (otherwise) unchanged&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Fry joined McLaren from Benetton in 1993.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think it was probably good for him, the right decision for him to take a bit of a break, take a breather,&#8221; McLaren boss Martin Whitmarsh said last month.<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">\u00a9 RIF|GMM<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ferrari on Tuesday confirmed reports that Pat Fry is joining the famous Italian team.
