{"id":7375,"date":"2010-07-28T18:13:10","date_gmt":"2010-07-28T22:13:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=7375"},"modified":"2010-07-28T18:13:10","modified_gmt":"2010-07-28T22:13:10","slug":"schumachers-car-designed-for-me-button","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/schumachers-car-designed-for-me-button\/","title":{"rendered":"Schumacher&#8217;s car designed for me &#8211; Button"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jenson Button has accepted a portion of the responsibility for Michael Schumacher&#8217;s lacklustre return to formula one this season.<\/p>\n<p>The reigning world champion said Brawn GP, now Mercedes GP, developed the Brackley based team&#8217;s 2010 car according to his preference for understeer.<\/p>\n<p>But at the last minute, Button switched to McLaren, while Mercedes made plans to host Schumacher&#8217;s comeback at the wheel of the W01 &#8212; a car whose basic characteristics the seven time world champion dislikes.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Michael likes a very pointy car,&#8221; the 30-year-old Briton is quoted by Germany&#8217;s Sport Bild.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;But the Mercedes understeers pretty strongly,&#8221; said Button.\u00a0 &#8220;I was always happy with it that way.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>But he is not overly apologetic, given that his McLaren move &#8220;made it possible for Michael to come back&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Button thinks the F1 world should not write Schumacher off until his performance in the 2011 car can be seen.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He will have more influence on the development of the next car.\u00a0 This year (the 2010 car) was quite late for him &#8212; the fundamental characteristics were in place long before his signature,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jenson Button has accepted a portion of the responsibility for Michael Schumacher&#8217;s lacklustre return to formula one this season.
