Some facts and figures to whet your appetite for this weekend\u2019s Mid-Ohio Sports Car Challenge, the sixth round of the 2010 American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patr\u00f3n…<\/p>\n

  1. The last five Mid-Ohio races have featured multiple lead-lap finishes and the last four have featured victory margins of less than nine seconds. Of the eight Mid-Ohio rounds, only one (2004) was won by a lap. The 2006 race featured the closest overall victory margin, only 0.434 seconds.<\/li>\n
  2. As is the case at many other venues, Porsche enjoys a phenomenal record at Mid-Ohio \u2013 nine class wins. The German marque has six GT2\/GT victories and three LMP2 victories \u2013 two of those were overall.<\/li>\n
  3. Fourteen previous Mid-Ohio American Le Mans Series race-winners at Mid-Ohio are entered this year. They combine for a total of twenty-five (25) Mid-Ohio ALMS wins. Corvette Racing\u2019s Johnny O\u2019Connell<\/strong><\/em> leads the way with five Mid-Ohio victories: (2001, 2002, 2004 GTS and 2005 and 2008 GT1). In last year\u2019s he and Corvette made their GT2 debut.\u00a0Johannes van Overbeek<\/strong><\/em>, driving for Extreme Speed Motorsports and Ferrari, ranks second with three career Mid-Ohio victories. They call came with Flying Lizard Motorsports and Porsche. In addition, all three were with different teammates: Darren Law (2004), Wolf Henzler (2006) and J\u00f6rg Bergmeister (2007). Van Overbeek will drive a Ferrari F430 GT this year with Scott Sharp.\u00a0The other previous race-winners: Olivier Beretta (2006 and 2007 GT1); J\u00f6rg Bergmeister (2007 and 2009 GT2); David Brabham (2001 P900 and overall), Guy Cosmo (2005 P2); Clint Field (2004 P2); Oliver Gavin (2006 and 2007 GT1); Wolf Henzler (2006 GT2); Darren Law (2004 GT); Patrick Long (2009 GT2); Jan Magnussen (2001 P900 and overall, 2008 GT1); Dirk M\u00fcller (2008 GT2); Simon Pagenaud (2009 P1 and overall); and Bryan Willman (2002 P675).<\/li>\n
  4. Simon Pagenaud<\/em><\/strong> seeks second consecutive Mid-Ohio overall victory, this time with Patr\u00f3n Highcroft Racing. He won in 2008 with Gil de Ferran and de Ferran Motorsports.<\/li>\n
  5. J\u00f6rg Bergmeister<\/em><\/strong>\/Patrick Long<\/em><\/strong>, Flying Lizard and Porsche are seeking a second consecutive Mid-Ohio GT2\/GT victory.<\/li>\n
  6. Corvette Racing<\/em><\/strong> seeks its eighth Mid-Ohio triumph, this time in GT. The factory GM road-racing effort won in GTS\/GT1 in 2001-02 and 2004-08. Last year, Corvette Racing debuted its GT2 version of the Corvette C6.R.<\/li>\n
  7. Corvette\u2019s Oliver Gavin<\/em><\/strong> can win his fourth Mid-Ohio pole position after taking GTS\/GT1 poles in 2004, 2005 and 2007. Corvette Racing also has claimed five previous Mid-Ohio pole positions, all in GTS\/GT1.<\/li>\n
  8. The 2009 and 2007 overall winners came from the overall pole, as did the 2002 victor. The 2006 overall-winning Penske Racing Porsche prototype started 22nd! Other overall winners came from second (2001, 2004, 2005) overall and fifth overall (2008).<\/li>\n
  9. GT2 (GT) winners came from pole (2005 and 2009), second (2001), third (2006 and 2007), fourth (2004 and 2008) and sixth (2002).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
