{"id":7910,"date":"2010-08-22T08:34:43","date_gmt":"2010-08-22T12:34:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=7910"},"modified":"2010-08-26T08:30:40","modified_gmt":"2010-08-26T12:30:40","slug":"thomson-jr-wins-the-dickies-200","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/events-shows\/thomson-jr-wins-the-dickies-200\/","title":{"rendered":"Thomson Jr. Wins The Dickies 200"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Don Thomson Jr. drove to Victory Lane at Mosport Speedway for the second time in his career as he took the Dickies 200 checkered flag in NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 action Saturday night.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-center aligncenter\" style=\"border: black 1px solid;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/gallery\/posts-other\/NCATS-Dickies-200-4A0059.jpg\" alt=\"NCATS-Dickies-200-4A0059\" width=\"512\" height=\"341\" \/>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Thomson, driver of the No. 4 Home Hardware Chevrolet, took the lead for the fifth and final time on Lap 178 and held off teammate JR Fitzpatrick of Cambridge and Mt. Albert, ON native Kerry Micks down the stretch for his sixth career victory overall. The Hamilton driver\u2019s last win came on September 12, 2009 at Barrie (ON) Speedway \u2013 10 races ago.\u00a0 His first win at Mosport Speedway came in August 2007.<\/p>\n<p>Fitzpatrick finished as the race runner-up and was able to extend his points lead on St. Thomas, ON driver DJ Kennington, who earned the pole earlier in the day, to 16.\u00a0 Kennington finished sixth.<\/p>\n<p>Following Thomson and Fitzpatrick across the line were Micks and Windsor\u2019s Ron Beauchamp Jr. Pete Shepherd III of Brampton, On rounding out the top five.<\/p>\n<p>Third in the season standings entering the event, Milverton, ON racer Scott Steckly ran with the leaders the majority of the race, but was involved in the seventh of the night\u2019s 10 cautions, and finished 17th.<\/p>\n<p>The race featured 10 lead changes among six drivers.<\/p>\n<p>The Dickies 200 will be telecast by TSN and TSN HD on Saturday, Aug. 28 at noon ET.<\/p>\n<p>In the championship point standings, Fitzpatrick and Kennington are breaking away from the pack a bit as Micks is 128 points back and Steckly is 147 points off the pace.<\/p>\nngg_shortcode_0_placeholder\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">(For more images click<strong> <\/strong><a title=\"Dickies 200 - Mosport Speedway 2010\" href=\"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/photo-galleries\/events-2010\/dickies-200-ncats-mosport-speedway-2010\/\" target=\"_self\"><strong>HERE<\/strong><\/a>)<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>NASCAR CANADIAN TIRE SERIES presented by MOBIL 1-Dickies 200 Results<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Saturday &#8211; Mosport Speedway &#8211; Bowmanville, Ontario<\/p>\n<p>Lap length: 0.5 miles (Start position in parentheses)<\/p>\n<p>1.
