{"id":8080,"date":"2010-08-27T21:13:34","date_gmt":"2010-08-28T01:13:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=8080"},"modified":"2010-08-27T21:13:34","modified_gmt":"2010-08-28T01:13:34","slug":"mercedes-and-force-india-deny-engine-switch-reports","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/mercedes-and-force-india-deny-engine-switch-reports\/","title":{"rendered":"Mercedes and Force India deny engine switch reports"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mercedes&#8217; Norbert Haug and Force India on Friday played down reports about movement in the customer engine market for 2011.<\/p>\n<p>Citing unnamed sources, a report in the Bayern newspaper TZ said Red Bull could be powered by Mercedes next year, with Force India switching to Renault.<\/p>\n<p>Force India denied the story, insisting it has a valid contract with Mercedes until the end of 2012.<\/p>\n<p>Also contrary to the report, the Silverstone based team said its payments to Mercedes are up to date &#8220;and always will be&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Mercedes also responded to the report, with motor sport vice president Haug insisting the marque is also contractually bound.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We would have worked with Red Bull already this year,&#8221; he told German television Sky.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;However, we have an exclusive contract with McLaren.\u00a0 Understandably, McLaren has put in the veto,&#8221; explained Haug.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have to respect contracts, of course.\u00a0 That is the situation.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I would be very happy to see Mark Webber, who was formerly with us (Mercedes), and of course Sebastian Vettel, drive with our engines.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;But at the moment that is not the case,&#8221; said Haug.<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mercedes&#8217; Norbert Haug and Force India on Friday played down reports about movement in the customer engine market for 2011.
