{"id":8162,"date":"2010-09-05T16:59:56","date_gmt":"2010-09-05T20:59:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=8162"},"modified":"2010-09-05T16:59:56","modified_gmt":"2010-09-05T20:59:56","slug":"ecclestone-admits-problems-with-new-korea-track","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/ecclestone-admits-problems-with-new-korea-track\/","title":{"rendered":"Ecclestone admits &#8216;problems&#8217; with new Korea track"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bernie Ecclestone on Sunday sounded defiant amid reports Korea is not ready to welcome formula one.<\/p>\n<p>Yeongam, about a four hour drive from Seoul, is scheduled to host its inaugural grand prix late next month.<\/p>\n<p>Karun Chandhok did the first demonstration laps of the track on Saturday in a Red Bull, admitting that the venue is not yet complete.<\/p>\n<p>Photos showed some buildings and grandstands are half built, fences missing, run-off areas unpaved and the track with only an initial layer of asphalt.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;How can a grand prix take place here?&#8221; wondered the German newspaper Bild am Sonntag, captioning a photo of a construction worker carrying materials against the backdrop of a half-built building.<\/p>\n<p>The newspaper said even a full supply of water and electricity is not yet present.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, many seats in the main grandstand are not installed, while parking lots are not ready to accommodate cars.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There are problems,&#8221; admitted F1 chief executive Ecclestone, &#8220;but we assume that the race can take place.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The circuit is definitely ready, but as for all the buildings, perhaps not,&#8221; admitted the Briton.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;So we may have to put up some tents,&#8221; Ecclestone joked.<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bernie Ecclestone on Sunday sounded defiant amid reports Korea is not ready to welcome formula one.
