{"id":8218,"date":"2010-09-07T12:56:51","date_gmt":"2010-09-07T16:56:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=8218"},"modified":"2010-09-07T12:57:28","modified_gmt":"2010-09-07T16:57:28","slug":"schumacher-admits-age-a-factor-in-comeback-struggle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/schumacher-admits-age-a-factor-in-comeback-struggle\/","title":{"rendered":"Schumacher admits age a factor in comeback struggle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Michael Schumacher has admitted that age may be a factor in his struggle to get back up to speed after returning to formula one this year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-center aligncenter\" style=\"border: black 1px solid;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/gallery\/f1-2010\/f1-10-drivers\/Michael-Schumacher.jpg\" alt=\"Michael-Schumacher\" width=\"512\" height=\"362\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To date, having returned with Mercedes in 2010 following a three year retirement, the seven time world champion has explained his lack of results as due mainly to technical factors, including today&#8217;s Bridgestone tyres and the characteristics of the W01 car.<\/p>\n<p>But the German is now quoted by News of the World: &#8220;At the end of the day there are physics.\u00a0 How can a 41-year-old be as good as a top-level 23 or 24-year-old?<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I have experience and a high level of speed, but if it is the same as at my high periods in Ferrari I don&#8217;t think we will ever know,&#8221; added Schumacher.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;At Ferrari I had been working for ten years to make that level.\u00a0 This time I have been with a whole new team just for one year.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Schumacher, having won a record 91 grand prix victories between 1992 and 2006, has not appeared on the podium so far in 2010, and is 58 points behind his 25-year-old teammate Nico Rosberg.<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #c0c0c0;\">\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Michael Schumacher has admitted that age may be a factor in his struggle to get back up to speed after returning to formula one this year.
