{"id":9717,"date":"2010-11-17T07:04:55","date_gmt":"2010-11-17T12:04:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=9717"},"modified":"2010-11-17T07:04:55","modified_gmt":"2010-11-17T12:04:55","slug":"friday-could-see-lotus-naming-dispute-solution","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/friday-could-see-lotus-naming-dispute-solution\/","title":{"rendered":"Friday could see Lotus naming dispute solution"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This Friday has been marked out as a likely turning-point in the Lotus naming dispute.<\/p>\n<p>Finland&#8217;s Turun Sanomat reports that November 19 could see a settlement in the dispute, with Tony Fernandes&#8217; team wanting to keep its name but the separate Group Lotus looking to enter F1 with a Renault collaboration next year.<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, it is believed that Proton-owned Group Lotus is scheduling an official announcement about its F1 project for 2011 this week.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, Fernandes is hinting that a decision has been made about how his team should proceed.\u00a0 &#8220;(Shareholders) Nasa, Din and myself know what to do.\u00a0 We are the people&#8217;s team,&#8221; he wrote on Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>It seems likely that the matter will not become a messy court battle.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;What we don&#8217;t want to be involved in is destroying the Lotus name,&#8221; Fernandes is quoted by Reuters.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We feel that we&#8217;ve done justice to the Lotus name.\u00a0 We want to keep it.\u00a0 We feel it&#8217;s ours.\u00a0 But we are also pragmatic human beings,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>And the team&#8217;s technical boss Mike Gascoyne told Turun Sanomat: &#8220;I don&#8217;t know what the name will be in the future, but that&#8217;s not the important thing.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m proud of the team and we&#8217;ve proved this year how strong we are.\u00a0 And at least one thing can never be taken away from us &#8212; we brought Lotus back to F1,&#8221; he said.<br \/>\n<em><span style=\"color: #888888;\">\u00a0\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This Friday has been marked out as a likely turning-point in the Lotus naming dispute.
