{"id":9927,"date":"2010-12-01T07:26:13","date_gmt":"2010-12-01T12:26:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=9927"},"modified":"2010-12-01T07:26:13","modified_gmt":"2010-12-01T12:26:13","slug":"webber-is-australias-top-sports-earner","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/formula-1\/webber-is-australias-top-sports-earner\/","title":{"rendered":"Webber is Australia&#8217;s top sports earner"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mark Webber may have missed out on the 2010 title, but he has leapt to the top of the list of Australian sports earners.<\/p>\n<p>The 34-year-old Red Bull driver has for the first time knocked golfer Greg Norman from first place on a Rich List published annually by BRW magazine.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Former No.1 Greg Norman has been removed from the list this year to reflect the continual slowdown in his playing commitments,&#8221; BRW said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Norman still makes millions but almost all of his money comes from property development and other business deals,&#8221; it added.<\/p>\n<p>Webber was fourth on last year&#8217;s list, but his estimated $13.4 million earned this season means he overtakes the 2010 number 2 Andrew Bogut, an NBL basketball player.<\/p>\n<p>Bogut&#8217;s earnings are listed as $12.6m, ahead of motocross rider Chad Reed ($7.5m), MotoGP&#8217;s Casey Stoner ($6.8m), Premier League player Tim Cahill ($4.2m) and NASCAR driver Marcos Ambrose ($4.2m).<\/p>\n<p>Webber was in Hobart on Wednesday to announce the 2011 resurrection of his Tasmanian outdoor adventure challenge, which was cancelled after he broke his leg in 2008.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The last time I was here I left a bit sore, but it&#8217;s great to be back,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #888888;\">\u00a0\u00a9 RIF | GMM<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mark Webber may have missed out on the 2010 title, but he has leapt to the top of the list of Australian sports earners.
