{"id":9937,"date":"2010-12-01T16:17:22","date_gmt":"2010-12-01T21:17:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/?p=9937"},"modified":"2010-12-01T16:17:22","modified_gmt":"2010-12-01T21:17:22","slug":"mosport-appoints-glenn-butt-as-speedway-manager","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/motorsports\/mosport-appoints-glenn-butt-as-speedway-manager\/","title":{"rendered":"Mosport Appoints Glenn Butt As Speedway Manager"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bowmanville, ON (December 1, 2010) &#8211; Mosport International Raceway has announced the appointment of Glenn Butt as Speedway manager.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"ngg-singlepic ngg-center aligncenter\" style=\"border: black 1px solid;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.racinginfocus.com\/rif\/gallery\/events\/CME-2010-2\/Canadian-Motorsports-Expo-2010-2A8650.jpg\" alt=\"Canadian Motorsports Expo 2010\" width=\"480\" height=\"320\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Butt will be responsible for all on-track aspects of competition, rules and race events, along with sales, marketing and promotions at the paved, half-mile Mosport Speedway oval.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is untapped potential for Mosport Speedway across Durham Region, Toronto and Southern Ontario, and Glenn\u2019s the right person to take on this role, promoting the Speedway to drivers, teams, businesses and fans.\u201d said Mosport\u2019s president and general manager, Myles Brandt. \u201cHe\u2019s well-respected within the motorsports and local community and we\u2019re looking forward to having his enthusiasm, drive and knowledge lead Mosport Speedway into the future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Butt has been involved in motorsports for more than 30 years as a racer, track announcer, broadcaster and businessman. He was director of marketing for Mosport International Raceway from 1999 to 2007. In 2007, Butt left Mosport to launch the Canadian Motorsports Expo (CME), which in a short four-year span has become the premier show of its kind in the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve really enjoyed building the Canadian Motorsports Expo,\u201d said Butt. \u201cSeeing the industry and fans get behind the show has been very rewarding. We took a step forward two years ago when Inside Track Magazine joined me as a partner.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Butt will co-serve duties at Mosport and the CME through to the upcoming edition, January 21-23.<\/p>\n<p>Commenting on his appointment to Mosport Speedway, Butt said he couldn\u2019t be happier. \u201cIn some ways, I feel like I never really left. I\u2019ve spent many weekends at the track announcing and can\u2019t wait to get started on my work at the Speedway.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Opened in 1989, Mosport Speedway is Canada\u2019s fastest paved half-mile oval and is part of a four-track facility which includes the world-famous Mosport International Raceway, the Mosport Driver Development Centre and the Mosport International Kart Complex.<\/p>\n<p>The Speedway season runs Saturday nights from mid-May to early September and features three home-track divisions (THORSONS EVT 6 or Less, Bob\u2019s Towing Sportsman and R.P. Oil Ltd.
