Muscle Milk HPD Wins The Mobil 1 Presents The Grand Prix Of Mosport

The pole setting Muscle Milk Aston HPD LMP1, piloted by Germany’s Klaus Graf and Lucas Luhr won by more than 10 seconds over the defending Series champion #16 Dyson Racing Lola driven by Chris Dyson and Guy Smith.  For Graf, the win marked the third consecutive year in which he took the checkered flag in the Mobil 1 presents the Grand Prix of Mosport.

At race’s end, the LMP2 and GT battles stole the show. Conquest Endurance’s Martin Plowman and David Heinemeier-Hansson won their first race in the No. 37 Morgan-Nissan with Plowman’s late-race drive to hold off Level 5 Motorsports’ Christophe Bouchut.

In GT, Johannes van Overbeek, driving his 100th ALMS race, finished on top in the No. 01 Extreme Speed Motorsports Ferrari F458 Italia after the No. 45 Porsche Flying Lizard team of Patrick Long and Jorg Bergmeister failed technical inspection.  Pole winners, Corvette Racing tandem of Jan Magnussen and Antonio Garcia finished second.

RSR Racing’s Bruno Junqueira and Tomy Drissi won in Prototype Challenge and Spencer Pumpelly and Emilio Di Guida won in GT Challenge for the second year in a row at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

Taking the Michelin Green X Challenge awards, given to the team that goes the farthest and fastest with the least environmental impact were the pairing of Graf/Luhr in LMP1 and Corvette Racing’s Gavin and Magnussen in GT.

In the U.S. based IMSA GT3 Cup, Bryce Miller won the 33-lap race for the second straight day.

The Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada held it’s second of two races this weekend.  Barrie native Kyle Marcelli again finished first as an unclassified driver.  Etienne Borgeat won in Platinum Cup and Chris Green and Bob Seitz of 6th Gear Racing were the winners once again in Gold Cup and Silver Cup respectively.

The Cooper Tires Prototype Lites also held the second leg of their weekend doubleheader.  16-year-old Tristan Nunez took the checkered flag in Lites One and Scott Tucker in Lites 2.

The SCCA Pro Racing Playboy MX-5 Cup held its race on Sunday with John Dean edging Stevan McAleer for the victory.

In Canadian Touring Car action, Sasha Anis won in Super Touring, Alain Lauziere in Touring and Nick Wittmer in B-Spec action.
