MUSCLE MILK TEAM CYTOSPORT TAKES CLOSE SECOND IN CLASS AT SEBRING QUALIFYING

The top three LMP2 cars registered times within two tenths of a second with Muscle Milk Team CytoSport placing second in class and sixth overall on the grid, only five hundredths of a second behind the first place LMP2 car.
 

Keeping to its cautious approach, the Muscle Milk squad only did one stint in the 25-minute qualifying session.
 
Sitting third in class after completing five laps, qualifying driver Klaus Graf jumped to second after registering a lap of one minute 47.738 seconds, his fastest of the week. Although very happy with Graf’s performance, the team wasn’t expecting as much, considering they had not practiced a lot in qualifying trim.
 
Muscle Milk Team CytoSport did consider sending the German back out for a second stint, knowing there was still some time left in the car, but decided to

stick to its initial plan with its sight set on its Twelve Hours of Sebring debut.
 
The American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón will go green on Saturday, March 20 at 10:30 am ET. “We’re really happy with qualifying second today. We’ve taken a very patient and cautious approach all week. We learned that from our four races last year, where we got a little impatient at times. So our philosophy coming in was to be patient and so far the week has gone according to plan. Klaus did a great job and did exactly what we asked of him. We’re comfortable with the car, the guys have done a great job preparing it and we’re looking forward to Saturday.”

“I think we can be very happy with qualifying second in class, especially considering the little practice we did in qualifying trim. It’s very close, only five hundredths of a second behind the class leader. We didn’t run this morning so this was kind of a cold start but the car is very good. I put in a good lap and had good confidence in it from running in the past days, so I kind of knew what to expect. “Thanks to the guys, once again they did a fantastic job preparing the car, everything was spot on and as always the Michelin tires were fantastic. “I think we laid the ground work now for a really good 12-hour race and I am really looking forward to the race tomorrow. I can’t wait for it to start.”
