Hispania Racing F1, team up with the Monaco Fire Brigade

HRTF1Tuesday, 11th May 2010, Monaco: The drivers of the newest team to the join the Formula 1™ World Championship, HRT F1 Team, Hispania Racing, will be teaming up with some of the toughest members of the 131 strong Monaco Fire Brigade to take part in an unusual and intense fitness training session in preparation for the 2010 Formula 1™ Monaco Grand Prix.

 

The team members will also learn about the history and dedication of Monaco Fire Brigade while being taught some valuable tips for dealing with soaring temperatures and sizzling situations.

Invited by Head of the Monaco Fire Brigade, Commandant Varo, to join the elite fire fighting squad, Karun Chandhok, Bruno Senna, Christian Klien and Sakon Yamamoto will definitely have their work cut out for them when they visit the Monaco Fire Fighters just days before the glamorous 2010 Formula 1™ Monaco Grand Prix.

The shiny helmets of the Monaco Fire Brigade are recognizable and a very familiar feature to racing events held on Monaco’s street circuit. Present at all times to ensure safety and eliminate any dangerous situations, the men and women of the Monaco Fire Brigade are on duty throughout the Grand Prix. They can be found preventing accidents, dealing with fire hazards and monitoring the pit-lane and garages to ensure that there is no danger. In what is almost a 24 hour a day duty, the Fire Fighters guarantee the safety of not only the teams and organizers, but also the spectators and fans.

While the cockpit of a Formula 1™ car can reach soaring temperatures, the Monaco Fire Brigade are no strangers to withstanding intense heat and much of their training is orientated at being able to maintain a clear mind while enduring scorching environments. HRT F1 Team, Hispania Racing, will be looking to pick up some valuable tips given by Capitaine de Gabriel and Major Canu as they continue to improve their physical fitness by engaging in some of the hardest fitness regimes the Fire Fighters take part in.

Karun Chandhok and Bruno Senna will be pulling out all the stops in preparations for the prestigious 2010 Formula 1™ Monaco Grand Prix, which is widely considered to be one of the most historic and important rounds of the Formula 1™ World Championship. Known for its glamour and its status as a playground of the rich and famous, Monaco has played host to the world’s oldest motorsport championship since 1929.

This legendary street circuit has witnessed some of the most celebrated moments in motorsport history and has seen some of the most intense motorsport rivalries unfold on its narrow and dangerous track. Known throughout the world for its extremely challenging circuit which consists of sharp elevations, blind turns and world famous tunnel, it is considered the ultimate driving test of a Formula 1™ driver.

HRT F1 Team, Hispania Racing, will be visiting the Monaco Fire Brigade on Wednesday 12th May, just days before the 2010 Formula 1™ Monaco Grand Prix.
Karun Chandhok, Bruno Senna and Sakon Yamamoto will all be present and will be taking part in a joint fitness exercise courtesy of the Monaco Fire Brigade and Commandant Varo, which will include climbing long ladders, understanding the mechanics of the fire trucks, dealing with fire and smoke fighting and undertaking track marshal training.
