New Williams breaks cover at Silverstone

After Ferrari launched its F10, another 2010 car also emerged on Thursday.

Grove based Williams’ FW32 was fired up at 3am on Thursday and later taken onto the Silverstone track for a private film shoot, team spokeswoman Claire Williams revealed.

Nico Hulkenberg was on duty at the wheel, and eyewitnesses said the Cosworth-powered car features a high nose similar to the one seen on Red Bull’s latterly dominant car of 2009.

“Hope its as fast as it is pretty!” Williams wrote on her Twitter page.

It also emerged on Thursday that Malaysian test driver Fairuz Fauzy will give Lotus’ new car its initial shakedown before the race drivers test it at Jerez in mid February.

“It looks fantastic,” Heikki Kovalainen said in a Reuters interview.  “I don’t expect it to be a rocket to start with but it looks really cool, people will be surprised when they see the car.”
