2010 Truly a new year for Team Falken Tire

Full-season effort, addition of Porsche driver Wolf Henzler as an example

Although Team Falken Tire dipped its proverbial toe in the water during 2009, its progression to a full-season entrant in this year’s American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón will make 2010 seem more than just a new season.

Truth be told, driver Bryan Sellers says, it’s almost a completely new program with a new 2010-spec Porsche 911 GT3 RSR, new tire developments and compounds, plus the addition of Porsche factory driver Wolf Henzler as a teammate. It’s meant that the Team Falken Tire squad has been as busy as ever in the lead-up to the season-opening 58th Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring presented by Fresh from Florida, where it will compete in GT2.

“The 2010 car isn’t just new itself but along with that comes a different shock package, a different wing and aero package,” Sellers said. “There is a lot to run through before the race comes around. We’re a little behind the curve because we’re developing the car and the tires.

“It’s a pretty big deal to have Wolf on board,” he added. “Anyone who watches the Series knows who Wolf is. He’s won a championship, won a lot of races and sat on a number of podiums. To be associated with him has brought the level of the team up and has brought the credibility of the team up. It will certainly make me along with everyone else better.”

The American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón will open its 12th season with America’s greatest sports car race, the 58th Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring presented by Fresh from Florida from March 17-20. The green flag will fall at 10:30 a.m. ET on Saturday, March 20 with live coverage on SPEED starting at 10 a.m. ET. Visit the Series’ schedule page for ticket and accommodation information. Live Timing and Scoring, and American Le Mans Radio will be available on Racehub at americanlemans.com.
