Klaus Graf Takes Pole For Mobil 1 Presents The Grand Prix of Mosport

Muscle Milk Aston Martin Racing driver Klaus Graf of Germany won the pole for the second consecutive year for the Mobil 1 presents The Grand Prix of Mosport.  He set the pace with a best lap time of 1:08.679, edging out the winner from two weeks ago, Chris Dyson.  Graf will co-pilot the Aston Martin LMP1 with fellow countryman, Lucas Luhr.

Kyle Marcelli of Barrie won the pole for the LMP Challenge class at his home track, with a fast lap of 1:11.331, a track record.  The 21-year-old looks to build on the momentum he has going after a class win in Europe and a second place finish at Lime Rock.

 

The first races of the weekend were held as the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge, Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada, Cooper Prototype Lites, F2000 Championship and Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship all were in action.

 

In the U.S. based IMSA GT3 Cup, Tim McKenzie won the 25-lap race after starting from the pole.

 

The Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada held it’s first of two races this weekend.  Marco Cirone of 6th Gear Racing was the winner of TRG’s Randy Oswald.

 

The Cooper Tires Prototype Lites also held their first of two weekend races.  Toronto’s Robert Sabato was the winner in Lites 2 after starting from pole positon.

 

Saturday’s racing also saw the Castrol Touring Car Championship run the first leg of their weekend doubleheader.  After winning the pole in qualifying, Brampton’s Sasha Anis took the checkered flag in the Super Touring Class.  The Markham duo of Gary and Tom Kwok finished one-two in the Touring Class.

 

Sunday’s schedule begins four races in the morning beginning at 8 am.  The Star Mazda Championship will hold their race followed by the second half of the Saturday/Sunday doubleheader for the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada, Cooper Tires Prototype Lites and the Castrol Touring Cars.  After lunch the final two races of the weekend will take place.  The IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge will run its second race of the weekend and will be followed by The Mobil 1 presents The Grand Prix of Mosport, American Le Mans Series race.
