Robertson Racing mid-race update from Petit Le Mans

With one-third distance completed at the Road Atlanta circuit, both Robertson Racing cars are still in the reckoning at the 13th annual Petit Le Mans powered by Mazda 2.

At this final round of the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patron the privateer outfit has, for the first time ever, entered a pair of their Ford GTs, and with both machines overcoming technical problems in the opening stages of the 10-hour/1,000 mile race will be hoping for smooth running for the remainder of the event.

The #04 car, piloted by David Murry, Rob Bell and Anthony Lazzaro, is currently tenth in the GT2 class, despite a starter issue having cost them time during the pit stops. All three drivers have been behind the wheel of the Ford GT, and will now look to begin their recovery towards the front of the field.

In the #40 entry regular drivers David Robertson and Andrea Robertson have been joined at Road Atlanta by Craig Stanton, and the experienced Grand-AM GT-class racer has proved a strong addition to the team. Like its sister car, the #40 has suffered technical gremlins, with a lost spark plug costing them close to ten minutes as the crew worked to fix the problem. They’re now back on track and running smoothly, just two places behind the #04 car, 12th in the GT2 standings.

Having made the short trip from their Braselton headquarters with high hopes for their two-car entry it is fair to say that the first three hours of this year’s event have been frustrating for Robertson Racing.  But, in a race as long and challenging as Petit Le Mans, there’s still plenty to push for, as the team seek to end the 2010 season on the best possible note.
