Groenke and Boake Dominate the Weekend at Mosport Int’l Raceway

Toronto, June 26th 2011 – PJ Groenke in his VW GTI and Richard Boake in his Subaru STI capped a perfect weekend with wins in Touring Class and Super Class respectively in Round Six of the Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship presented by Continental Tire (CTCC) on Sunday June 26, 2011 at Mosport International Raceway.

Touring Class

Leading Touring Class from the start, and all through the race, Toronto driver P.J. Groenke from the Pfaff Automotive Partners had his second win of weekend and the season. Definitely boosted by Saturday’s adrenaline, Groenke didn’t let anyone get in his way to the podium. For Round Six, he was followed by M&S Racing’s Gary Kwok for the second position and his brother Tom Kwok for third, both of Markham, Ontario.

“I just couldn’t stop”, exclaimed Groenke. “I got lucky that a Super Class car was behind me and it made a barrier for the other competitors.”

Quebec driver Michel Sallenbach in his Mini and Oshawa driver Marlin Langeveldt in his Mazda Protégé were following in fourth and fifth positions.

Super Class

Almost repeating the same scenario as Saturday, King City driver Richad Boake in his Subaru STi and Amherstburg driver Dean Fantin had a strong battle for the lead. This time, Boake didn’t let Fantin steal the first place away from him.

“They were all over me. I couldn’t even think of slowing down, otherwise they would have got to me,” stated Boake at podium ceremony. Having the fastest lap with 1:30.697, Fantin in his BMW 330i got the second podium position for the second time this weekend. Third position was given to Ashton driver Arek Wojciechowski in a BMW 328i. Wojciechowski had a great racing weekend has he got the fourth position the day before. In Super Class, the fourth and fifth positions were given to Quebec driver Etienne Borgeat in a Pontiac Solstice and Brampton driver Bob Attrell in his Hyundai Genesis Coupe.
