Canadian Tire Motorsport Park To Host First Canadian Race In The Tudor United Sportscar Championship

Canadian Tire Motorsport Park is thrilled to announce that it has been included on the inaugural TUDOR United SportsCar Championship 2014 schedule. The only Canadian stop for the new series will take place on July 13, 2014.

The highly anticipated TUDOR United SportsCar Championship is the culmination of the merger between the GRAND-AM Rolex Series and the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón.

“We at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park are thrilled to have landed a coveted date on the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship 2014 schedule,” said Myles Brandt, President and General Manager of Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

“Sports car racing has played a major role in Canadian Tire Motorsport Park’s rich history and in 2014 we will be fortunate enough to continue that legacy. Our fans and corporate partners can mark the date on their calendar now and start making plans to be a part of what will no doubt be a memorable weekend.”

The 12-race schedule for the 2014 season starts in January with the 52nd running of the Rolex 24 at Daytona and closes at Road Atlanta, with the 17th running of the Petit Le Mans. The remaining events feature a mix of North America’s best permanent road courses and high-profile street circuits.

“This is, without a doubt, the best sports car schedule in the history of North America. When we announced the merger plans last year, we immediately envisioned a dream schedule, one that our industry and, most importantly, our fans would embrace,” said Scott Atherton, IMSA President.

“There were so many options to consider and we could have added more events, but we had to ensure that we didn’t over-tax our industry. So, we stuck to our plan of going with the ‘best of the best’ and capped the lineup at 12 events. Overall, a dream schedule, indeed.”

“We have created a premium schedule for sports car fans, taking our new championship to some of the best road racing facilities in North America,” stated IMSA CEO Ed Bennett.

“The first TUDOR United SportsCar Championship season will feature iconic tracks deeply rich in history. We are very proud of this group of 12 facilities which have been selected for the inaugural season.”
