J R Fitzpatrick Wins The Vortex Brake Pads 200

The final day of Mosport’s Vortex Brake Pads 200 Weekend saw the sunshine return and with it came great racing action in NASCAR Canadian Tire Series, F2000 Championship, Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship and Ontario Formula Ford Championship F1600.

J-R-Fitzpatrick

In Canada’s top stock car Series, Cambridge native J.R. Fitzpatrick returned to Mosport to take the checker flag in the Vortex Brake Pads 200 in dominating fashion.  Fitzpatrick, who started in second after qualifying, was able to overtake his Mosport rival and pole sitter Andrew Ranger of Roxton Pond, QC on lap five.  Ranger, the 2009 Series Champion, broke his own qualifying record with a time of 1:24.041.  In the four Canadian Tire Series races held on the famed 4 km track, Fitzpatrick and Ranger have now won two apiece.

Brazilian Victor Carbone won the second leg of the F2000 Championship Series weekend doubleheader while breaking the Series track record with a lap time of 1:21.311.  Saturday’s winner and lone Canadian participant, Remy Audette of Ste-Anne-des-Lacs, QC finished in third.
