Vitantonio Liuzzi is provisionally scheduled to test with the HRT team in Barcelona, reports in Italy and Spain suggest.
Despite having a contract for 2011, the Italian driver was ousted by Force India and reportedly did not have enough sponsors to secure HRT’s final race seat on this season’s grid.
But Italiaracing reported that, after missing the recent Jerez test, HRT will return to action at the Circuit de Catalunya, with 29-year-old Liuzzi to share driving duties alongside confirmed racer Narain Karthikeyan.
Another report, in the Spanish language virutasf1.com, said Liuzzi’s test is not necessarily an indication that he will definitely be signed for the 2011 season.
HRT’s presence at the Barcelona test means that every F1 team will be in action.
Some other interesting pieces of testing news is that Daniel Ricciardo, Toro Rosso’s new Friday driver, will get some time at the wheel of the new STR6 this week, while Ferrari will be using its second completed model of the F150 chassis.
There has been some heavy rain in Barcelona earlier this week, but better weather is forecast for Friday.
