NASCAR Canadian Tire Series 2011 Schedule Announced

The NASCAR Canadian Tire Series To Kick-Off 2011 Season At Canada’s Fastest Half-Mile Paved Oval With The Dickies 200

Vortex Brake Pads 200 Will Be Mosport’s Second NASCAR Race Of The Season

(BOWMANVILLE, ON – November 11, 2010)  Canada’s fastest half-mile paved oval, Mosport Speedway, will play host to the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series 2011 season opener on Saturday, May 28 with the Dickies 200.

The announcement was made by the Series in downtown Toronto on November 10 as they released their full 2011 schedule at the VIP Reception at the Fermenting Cellar in the Distillery District.

“It’s an honour to host the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series 2011 season-opening race at Mosport Speedway,” said Myles Brandt, Mosport President and General Manager.  “The Speedway is a great venue for the Series and they have always put on an entertaining show for the fans.”

The country’s top stock car racers return to Mosport, this time to try to tame the legendary 3.96 km, 10-turn International Raceway for the Vortex Brake Pads 200, June 24-26.

“We are really pleased to have landed two rounds on the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series schedule,” Brandt said.  “These cars look fabulous on the road course and the drivers race hard all weekend long.  It’s one of the most exciting races of our season.”

The 12-race schedule will see a familiar mix of tracks including seven races on ovals and five on road courses, with one taking place on the temporary street circuit at Exhibition Place in Toronto.  A new race on this year’s schedule will be held at Circuit ICAR, a 3 km road course located at the old Mirabel Airport site, north of Montreal.
