Aiming for another win at Mirabel-Mathieu Audette

Blainville (Quebec), June 29, 2010.– Mathieu and Rémy Audette will once again share the limelight this weekend during the Grand Prix de Mirabel held at the ICAR Circuit, on the site of the former international airport.  Victorious at Mosport less than two weeks ago, Mathieu will attempt a repeat performance that would propel him into the lead of the Canadian Touring Car Championship.  His brother Rémy will use this weekend as his return for the Formula Tour 1600, in which he was champion in 2007.

Since the start of the season, the Audette Racing team has displayed excellent performances in the Canadian Touring Car Championship as Mathieu Audette drove his Portes Dimensions Acura RSX S-Type to four “Top 4” finishes in as many outings, topped with a victory at the most recent race. “I’m aiming for nothing less that another win “ explains the Quebec driver, “ our Acura has been running really well since the beginning of the season and I am confident about this weekend even though this is the track I know the least in the championship, regardless of the fact that it is right next door. It will take me a few qualifying laps before I get really comfortable with this track again “ adds Mathieu.

The Audette Racing team will have the pleasure of seeing its two drivers reunited at the 2010 Grand Prix de Mirabel, an unforeseen situation as Rémy Audette was initially scheduled to take part in an American F2000 series double-header.  The option presented itself to drive a Van Diemen prepared by the reputable David Clubine and as a result, Rémy will partake in the two Formula Tour 1600 races scheduled at Mirabel. « We simply fast-forwarded our original plan to progressively end our commitment in Formula 2000 » confides Rémy Audette.  He adds : « after Mirabel, the offer from the Clubine team continues with the Grand-Prix de Trois-Rivières and maybe the NASCAR weekend in Montréal, two prestigious events at which the Formula Tour 1600 open wheel cars are on the roster.  It’s an opportunity that I couldn’t refuse ! » adds Rémy Audette who, like his brother, has already won the Formula Tour 1600 title (Rémy in 2007, Mathieu in 2004).

The Audette Racing team is looking forward to welcoming all of their fans at the Grand Prix de Mirabel. A sponsor-branded tent will be erected in the paddock to welcome all team supporters who come to encourage the team and meet the drivers.

This season, the Audette Racing team benefits from the support of Portes Dimensions, Novatech, Acura Plus Blainville, Les Extrusions du Nord, Verre Select, Jeld Wen, OPM, Amusements Spectaculaire, Les Moulures PFJV, Mec-Inov and Omnitech.

The Canadian Touring Car Championship takes place over seven racing weekends (always double-headers).  Four of these will take place in Ontario and three in Quebec, including twice at the ICAR Complex in Mirabel, and once at the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières in August.

As for Rémy Audette, after having earned two victories in the American Formula 2000 Championship, he returns this summer to Formula Tour 1600.

This weekend at the Mirabel’s ICAR Complex, the two rounds of the Canadian Touring Car Championship will take place on Saturday at 2:55pm and Sunday at 2pm.  On both days, the Formula Tour 1600 races are to immediately follow Touring Car.
