Mathieu and Rémy Audette share the spotlight this weekend at Mosport

Blainville (Québec), June 7, 2010. – Mathieu and Rémy Audette will be at the Mosport track this weekend to take part in no less than four races, two for Mathieu in the Canadian Touring Car Championship and two for Rémy in the American open-wheel Formula 2000 series. This will be the only time this year that the two series will share the schedule, providing a unique occasion for the entire Audette Racing team from Blainville.

Ranked fourth and third in the season’s first two rounds last month, Mathieu Audette, who is aiming for nothing less than the 2010 Touring Car championship title, intends to pursue his streak this weekend : « we plan to maintain our consistency at the head of the pack. We attained our goal of finishing in the Top 5 at the first double-header and we’re returning to Mosport with the same objective » explains the Quebec driver. « The suspension on our Acura RSX Type-S has again been improved and I am confident for another good result » he adds.

As for sharing the spotlight with his brother Rémy and the F2000, Mathieu pleasingly says : « it’s the only time in the season when the Touring Car and F2000 series are at the same track. It’s great for the team and my brother and I get to watch each other on the track and exchange driving and settings advice. It really is a special weekend for us » confides Mathieu.

On his side, Rémy Audette also started his season with front-runner rankings, earning a fifth place and a podium spot (second) at the Virginia Raceway in April. Rémy, who is not contesting the entire Formula 2000 this year, is eyeing for a podium finish at Mosport “I’m very enthusiastic going into this weekend. It’s the only time in the year that the F2000 comes to Canada so I’m looking for a good result. We practiced last weekend at the Circuit Mont-Tremblant, which enabled us to adjust the suspension and fine-tune the settings of our Van Diemen. We’re very optimistic” indicates Rémy, who will work with Sébastien Durand as his engineer for the weekend.

“Our plans are changing for next season and this may be the last time that I drive an F2000 at Mosport. It’s an exceptional course and I’d really like to do well this weekend” concludes the Audette Racing Team driver.

This season, the Audette Racing Team benefits from the support from Portes Dimensions, Novatech, Acura Plus Blainville, Les Extrusions du Nord, Verre Select, Jeld Wen, OPM, Amusements Spectaculaire, Les Moulures PFJV, Mec-Inov and Omnitech.

The Canadian Touring Car Championship takes place over seven racing weekends (always double-headers). Four of these will take place in Ontario and three in Quebec, including twice at the ICAR Complex in Mirabel and once at the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières in August. Mathieu Audette kicked off the 2010 season with a fourth and a third place finish.

As for Rémy Audette, after multiple victories and podiums in last year’s Formula 2000 American Championship, he will be contesting a limited program in this year’s open-wheel series.

This weekend at Mosport, the two rounds of the Canadian Touring Car Championship will take place on Saturday (June 12) at 1:25pm and Sunday at 3:30pm. Formula 2000 races are scheduled for Saturday at 2:50pm and Sunday at 11:45am.
